Britain Talks to Her Ships - Newest Ship-Shore Radio Station now in Service.From Burnham, a small Somersetshire village, Communication is kept with British ships all over the world in the finest ship-to-shore radio system known. The organisation, developed from wartime-experience, uses direct transmissions from the internationally-known Portishead Radio and from Admiralty transmitters in distant parts of the world. One of the more obvious results is the provision of a telegraph service between any British home and any British ship fitted with high frequency radio. July 09, 1951. Nuremberg war crimes trial, Germany, 1946. Between 20 November 1945 and 1 October 1946 the 24 surviving most senior Nazi leaders were tried before the International Military Tribunal in the Palace of Justice in Nuremberg. The defendants are ack row (left to right): Admiral Karl Doenitz, Admiral Erich Raeder, Baldur von Schirach (leader of the Hitler Youth), Fritz Sauckel (head of the Nazi slave labour programme), General Alfred Jodl, Franz von Papen. Front row (left to right): Hermann Goering, Rudolf Hess, Joachim von Ribbentrop (Foreign Minister), Field Marshal Wilhelm Keitel, Alfred Rosenberg, Hans Frank (ruler of occupied Poland), Wilhelm Frick (Interior Minister). Von Papen was acquitted, Doenitz, Raeder, von Schirach and Hess received prison terms, Hess for life, and the remainder were sentenced to death. The photographer is unknown.

Detachment 101, an enigmatic Allied intelligence and special operations unit during World War II, played a pivotal role in the Burmese theater. Operating deep in the jungles of Burma, their mission was multi-faceted, encompassing guerrilla warfare, espionage, and sabotage against Japanese forces. Comprising a diverse group of individuals, from OSS agents to indigenous fighters, they effectively disrupted Japanese supply lines, gathered critical intelligence, and supported resistance movements.
