Detachment 101, an enigmatic Allied intelligence and special operations unit during World War II, played a pivotal role in the Burmese theater. Operating deep in the jungles of Burma, their mission was multi-faceted, encompassing guerrilla warfare, espionage, and sabotage against Japanese forces. Comprising a diverse group of individuals, from OSS agents to indigenous fighters, they effectively disrupted Japanese supply lines, gathered critical intelligence, and supported resistance movements.

Blimp Uses Carrier As Base -- A Navy blimp descends to the deck of the aircraft carriers Sicily during fleet maneuvers in the Caribbean. Carrier crew member hold handling lines and bring her in so that she can be refueled. The Navy demonstrated that it has increased the range and usefulness of blimps in anti-submarine warfare by basing them on carrier. Two blimps were based on the Sicily during the maneuvers against submarines. The blimps were rearmed, refueled and replenished with stores. King Presents Colours to Parachute Regtment in Aldershot Ceremony -- The Scene on the Parade ground at Aldershot, as the king, on the dais (right) presents the colours to the Parachute Regiment. Also on the dais, (with back to Camera) is Field - Marshal Lord Montgomery. A Blimp hovers above. A rare honor was accorded to the Parachute Regiment today (Wednesday), when the King, accompanied by the Queen, Presented the Regiment with its first colours in a ceremony which took place here. Brayette 16th century German From about the third century B.C. through the early fourteenth century A.D., mail, also called chain mail, was the predominant and most effective type of body armor known in Europe. From about the mid-fifteenth century onward, mail was used in conjunction with full plate armor to fill the gaps between plates. Separate mail sleeves were made to be worn with a cuirass (breastplate and backplate); shaped panels of mail called gussets, covered the armpits or the crooks of the elbows and were attached to arming jackets, garments specially tailored to be worn under armor; and mail breeches, called brayettes or pairs of paunces, could be worn by men fighting on foot..
