This composite image, from NASA's Galileo and Mars Global Survey orbiters, of Earth and Mars was created to allow viewers to gain a better understanding of the relative sizes of the two planets.

The High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) camera on NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter took two images of the larger of Mars' two moons, Phobos, within 10 minutes of each other on March 23, 2008. This is the first.

This animation, constructed using stereo imaging data from the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) camera on NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, provides an airborne perspective of the Mars 2020 landing site and its exploration area at Jezero Crater. Mars 2020 is expected to land to the southeast of an ancient river delta, a fan-shaped feature inside the northeast rim of Jezero Crater that provides solid evidence of a river and lake system active in and around the crater billions of years ago. The solid white line on the surface indicates a path the rover could take during its prime mission. Animation available at

This global view of Venus, centered at 270 degrees east longitude, is a compilation of data from several sources. Magellan synthetic aperature radar mosaics from the first cycle of Magellan mapping are mapped onto a computer-simulated globe to create the image. Data gaps are filled with Pioneer-Venus orbiter data, or a constant mid-range value. Simulated color is used to enhance small-scale structure. The simulated hues are based on color images recorded by the Soviet Venera 13 and 14 spacecraft. The image was produced at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) Multimission Image Processing Laboratory and is a single frame from a video released at the JPL news conference, 10-29-91. NASA's Cassini spacecraft looks toward the dark region of Belet on Saturn's largest moon, Titan. This large region on the moon has a low albedo, meaning it diffusely reflects little light.

The hemispheric view of Venus, as revealed by more than a decade of radar investigations culminating in the 1990-1994 Magellan mission, is cantered at 180 degrees east longitude. The Magellan spacecraft imaged more than 98% of Venus at a resolution of about 100 meters; the effective resolution of this image is about 3 km. A mosaic of the Magellan images (most with illumination from the west) forms the image base. Gaps in the Magellan coverage were filled with images from the Earth-based Arecibo radar in a region cantered roughly on 0 degree latitude and longitude, and with a neutral tone elsewhere (primarily near the south pole).
