They are members of the 1st Battalion Gordon Highlanders which has returned to Britain after 6½ years abroad and is now on the way to their home barracks near Glasgow. The Battalion took part in the Normandie invasion and when Germany fell they became stationed in the Ruhr. Since then they have been all over Western Germany.
