Skydivers parachute with a 7,800 square foot American flag to announce the beginning of the 47th Marine Corps Marathon at Arlington, Virginia on Oct. 30, 2022. Organized by the men and women of the Unites States Marine Corps, the 47th MCM is the first live event since 2019. The 26.2 mile race drew roughly 20,000 participants, more than 2,200 Marines and Sailors, and 1,500 civilian volunteers. Known as "The People's Marathon," there is no prize money for top finishers; all runners were celebrated for their honor, courage, and commitment.
