Embroidery: silk on linen tabby ground; overall: 15.6 x 15.9 cm (6 1/8 x 6 1/4 in.).Spread from cotton sits with the weapon goslinga. Unlined multicolor sits arms sprei. In the midfield centrally an oval shield with the weapon of Goslinga; In the four corners a flower bouquet in a pot on foot. In the edges, trees with fanning branches, flowers and leaves. The defining features include brilliant colors in both brocaded flowers and weft and Western lace motifs combined with a complex pattern that incorporates the tassel motif common in traditional folk patterns--and here evocative of the Turkish tulip form. The scarf was given to the collection by Millicent Rogers, who not only amassed a notable collection of haute couture garments, she also collected folkloric clothing and accessories for her own use..
