Modernising American Bombers -- The aft sections of three U.S. Air Force strategic bombers protrude from the well of a building at San Diego, California, U.S.A., at the plant of Consolidated Vultee Aircraft, where early model B-36E aeroplanes are being modernised into jet-augmented B.36D bombers. Forward portions of planes are undergoing work inside building Which is not tall enough to accommodate 47-foot high tail structures. It carries about 200 of personel as well as equipment. This was on view at Lakenheath this afternoon when the American squadron flew in. January 19, 1951.

A 37th Tactical Airlift Squadron C-130E is off the end of the runway at Biebelstadt Army Airfield, Germany after crash landing. Buffeted by high winds on final approach the landing gear collapsed and the number one engine caught fire on touchdown.
