Just before Christmas it was held up in Canada with suspected engine trouble, and the last lap of the journey was completed from Montreal to London in what may prove to be a new Atlantic crossing record. Comet Missing -- This is a picture of the boac comet jet airliner with the identification number "G-Alyy" on the tail. This picture was made July 16 1953. As the airliner came to rest broadside on the short runaway at Juhu airport, a mile from Bombay, India. Running in on the short runway the pilot suddenly noticed the rainwater filled ditch (see in foreground).German radio operators at Frankfurt's Rhein-Main airport said early today. April 9 they have intercepted a message that a British comet airliner is overdue enroute from Rome to Cairo.One of the radoo operator's said the plane's identification mark "G-Alyy" was lister as a Boac's comet in the international plane register. Airplanes in an airport

A Boeing 367-80 aircraft sits on the flight line after undergoing restoration at the Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration center (AMARC). The Dash-80, as it is nicknamed, will be featured at Boeing Aerospace Corporation's Seattle-based headquarters during their 75th anniversary in July 1991. The plane is the prototype for both the Boeing 707 aircraft and the Air Force's KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft and, prior to restoration, was in storage at AMARC for 17 years. The Last Of The Comets Returns Home -- The Comet "Yoke William" taxi-ing in at London Airport.The Comet airliner, "Yoke William", the last of the BOAC fleet which was still aboard when the certificate of airworthiness was withdrawn from these aircraft, flew into London Airport today from Colombo. The route was via Beirut and Malta. Capt. T.B. Stoney DFC who piloted the aircraft said it was an uneventful flight. The sleek, four-jet Boeing prototype Stratotanker-Stratoliner is seen here during its initial flight (July 15). The big 190,000-pound, 550-miles-per-hour tanker-transport lifted easily from the Renton (Wash.) Municipal Airport, using less than 2,100 of the 5,400 feet of available runway. The new Boeing climbed steeply away over Lake Washington at the field's northern boundary and started its initial test program. The flight lasted one hour and 24 minutes. First landing of America's first jet transport was at Seattle's Boeing Field. Pilot was A.M. "Tex" Johnston, Boeing Chief of Flight test, and co-pilot was R.L. Loesch. Johnston reported after landing "a beautiful flight and a beautiful airplane. January 28, 1955.
