Portable Porter -- The Portable Porter makes it easy for travelers on American Airlines "Convairs" to get their luggage on and off plane. They roll their own.In 1948, 60 million travelers flowed through N. Y.'s Grand Central terminal, with only 242 porters to serve them. A smart manufacturer found this porter shortage general, came to travelers aid with the Portable Porter.This new gadget can be attached to your own luggage. It consists of a sturdy pair of wheels, a handle and fixture for attaching them, packaged in a tiny carrying case for under $8. The wheels fold flat in transit or can slip off (attachment is on the slide-principle). They can also shift from bag-to-bag. Stores plan to stock these heavily for Christmas giving.Portable Porter luggage attachment allows girl to wheel her baggage directly to a taxi; no waiting for porter to load and unload others' bags. Arctic Exploration Goes Modern. The Coast Guard helicopter is framed by the wing and pontoon of the Navy Seaplane aboard the Coast Guard icebreaker Northwind, during the current voyage of this vessel far to the north of the arctic circle. The scientists, who constitute the observation party, have found the helicopter of especial advantage in checking the data, weather, ocean, wild life, and so on, which is the object of the voyage.
